Yoooo! It’s definitely too late to wish you a happy new year, but I hope 2025 has got off to a strong start for you.

  • Gem of the Month

I’m back in the Shack, baby!

After a much needed break, I'm pleased to say I'm back in the shack and cooking up musical delights for ya. This one is something I've been meaning to do for a while - this track would be a bit of a guilty pleasure if I was in any way guilty about liking it. It’s a banger… there's so many bits that I like in this tune and a few bits that I don't, so I've rebuilt it as an extended 7 minute monster. Lots of messing about with stems in here, and the end result is familiar, but kind of different. I hope you enjoy it - of course it's yours for free, sugar!

…and I’ve done a remix for Good Custard

Although I've had a break from the studio, something I finished just before that break has just been unleashed. The lovely folks at Good Custard up in Manchester kindly invited me to do a remix of a tasty tribal banger from Austin called Wimbo, and I was only too pleased to oblige. My version slows things down a bit, adds a big old groovy bassline and some naughty acid. It's out on Good Custard today!

Listen back to the 2025 All Star House Party

For the last few years, in the middle of January, I've had the pleasure of attending a small gathering in North London to celebrate my friend's birthday. This friend also happens to be Jet Boot Jack's wife, and half of the people at the party are DJs… So out come the decks, up goes the volume and we all have a lovely little dance in their living room! This time was an absolute treat with sets from Jet Boot Jack, Mr Doris, 2 Bad Mice, Grant Richards, Pete Ellison and myself… With Deemas J on MC duties. We all had a right old time, and it was all recorded - I'm on about 40 minutes in, dropping a selection of US and UK garage-inspired vibes.

Gem of the Month

Gem of the Month is back for 2025, unearthing a funky golden nugget each month that you might not have heard before, but need in your life! This one’s a snappy bit of boogie funk from 1982 - Goin’ Down by Yvonne Brown. Highlights include the crispy drums, parpy synth horns, funky bass and of course Yvonne’s lovely vocal. Also keep an ear out for the percussive breakdown in the middle. Love this one!

Cheers for reading - hope to catch you next month!
