Gem of the Week
Oh, what a feeling…
I can’t believe that this is the first time I’ve edited Our Li, but here we are. I’ve taken his 1986 guilty pleasure Dancing On The Ceiling and given it a light dusting of Funkier magic. Not done loads to it - slight beefing, some chopping up to bring in a few less familiar bits from the extended cut… and unusually for me I’ve brought the BPM down a bit! Usual deal here - free download for you lovely people. Hope it makes you dance yourselves upside down!

I put out a call for guest mixes for my radio show last week as I’ve been terrible at keeping the schedule filled, and the response was absolutely ridiculous. Safe to say the schedule is full for the foreseeable, and I’m excited to bring you loads of excellent new DJs over 2024, with a couple of bigger names too. First in (by virtue of having a mix ready to go and rescuing me from having to do my own guest mix again) was Guy Mitchell, and he did so in considerable style with a mix crammed to the brim with top notch disco house. Get this one on - there’s some nice disco gems from me towards the end of my bit of the show too.
This made me happy…
I thought I’d share this because it made me very happy indeed - I was having a bit of a bad day earlier this week, then Rix & Boogie from Denver, CO cheered me right up by sending me a clip of my track Real Good Funky Music being played during a set from them at a venue called Your Mom’s House. And oh my - people are getting DOWN! There’s booty shakin’, there’s fancy dress, there’s live guitar…
I absolutely love seeing stuff like this with my music out in the wild - it keeps me going on this path and reminds me that this sometimes seemingly fruitless endeavour has potential to bring joy to people across the world. So I thought I’d share the full video with you - My track comes in at about 1:18 but the whole thing is worth a watch

Just a v quick reminder for any London folk out there that I’m playing a FREE party next Saturday, 16th December. It’s in the oh-so-trendy neighbourhood of Hackney Wick, and I’m alongside my good buddy Greg Middleton, who I’ve shared a booth with several times. It’s a special Christmas do hosted by Late Night Disco, I’m packing a playlist of very special disco heat for this one, and I can’t wait! Tickets are free, but please hit the link below to grab one…
Gem of the Week
Some immaculately crisp funk from 1981 this time, with I’ve Been Watching You by Midnight Star. Groovy guitars, tasty slap bass and then some nice synth horns that come in later. I love how the backing vocals give way to a little bass solo halfway through. What a great track!
Hope to see you soon,
Tom xx
