Gem of the Week
Goin’ Loco for this free download
I've been up to my old tricks again, having way too much fun mucking around with a perfectly good tune. My victim this time is the wonderful Loco in Acapulco by The Four Tops, actually written (and drummed) by Phil Collins. I had loads of fun attempting to turn this into a modern day club banger, and as always I'm giving my efforts away absolutely free. Click away below - hope you enjoy!
Funkier Sounds with Danielle from Crazy P!
Big one this - It’s my massive honour to bring you an exclusive guest mix from none other than Danielle Moore of Crazy P. Crazy P are one of my absolute favourite acts, and they’ve been doing the business in considerable style for literally decades now. I was totally trying my luck when I reached out to Danielle on Instagram to ask for a mix, but bless her she replied, she’s absolutely lovely, we’ve been chatting a bit and she sent me this monster of a mix. Full of the sort of deep, low slung, after hours disco that Crazy P are known for, it’s an absolutely impeccable selection, ending on a Crazy P classic. I'm so excited to bring you this one!
Funkier Sessions 1-4
My new mix series is picking up steam, and we're already 4 episodes in! I’m happy to say that it’s been a truly international affair so far, featuring Afrobeats from Indian duo I MUSIC and the latest instalment that’s just launched - two hours of Japanese funk and disco from Ukrainian DJ Mariia! It’s my mission to bring you diverse yet funky sounds from across the world with this series, and so far so good. But I need more DJs, so if you want in, get in touch… and if you know any DJs who might be up for it, I’d really appreciate if you could give them a heads up
Gem of the Week
Back to the early 80s for this late era disco funk ripper, Too Through by Bad Girls. Featuring the unmistakable vocals of Jocelyn Brown in full flow, and driving bass guitar part and key stabs that inspired Promised You A Miracle by Simple Minds. Yet another one that was first brought onto my radar by a tune that sampled it, then I had that wonderful aha moment when I stumbled across the original. Lots of love for this one! ❤️
Until next time - peace, love and funky times ✌️❤️🕺
