A Pearl of a free download

I know lots of you only read this newsletter for the free downloads, and I’m fine with that… happily I’ve got one for you this time! This isn’t the first time I’ve edited a Jessie Ware track - last time it was Free Yourself, and now I’ve got an edit of her wonderfully catchy latest track Pearls for you. It’s the usual Funkier treatment - cut up, sped up, pitched down and jackin’… and of course available absolutely free to those who click the magic button…

New music on Mango Sounds

Last week also saw my first label release in a while too - I returned to one of my favourite labels Mango Sounds with a track called Party Till The Morning Light. It’s actually something I did in the middle of last year, and is my attempt at flipping Do Your Dance by Rose Royce. It’s out now on all major platforms - here’s the Spotify link. Why not give me a follow if you want all my new stuff to pop up in your Release Radar?

Funkier Radio with Pedro From Lisbon

My latest radio show was a fun one - after an hour of me cramming in loads of tracks as per usual (20 this time!), I handed over to my friend Pedro From Lisbon for an excellent second hour filled with joyous funky grooves. He covered lots of ground with tracks from Luther Vandross, Jamiroquai, Janet Jackson, Cameo and more… with loads of edits from the likes of Fingerman, Shaka Loves You and my friend Pete Ellison. Well worth a listen if you like your music funky (...which I'd assume you do if you’re reading this!)

Guess who's on the line up for Westival...!

A few weeks back I shone the spotlight on Westival, and said to keep an eye out in case a certain yours truly cropped up on the line up. Well, it’s official - there I am! I absolutely can’t wait to get down to Pembrokeshire in July to spin some tunes... the line up's fantastic, tickets are very reasonably priced. and I’d love you to join me - I’ll even buy you a pint!

Gem of the Week

Another early 80s belter here - Kick It Out by Heaven & Earth. I'm drawn to this one by the growling, superbly funky bassline, but it's got some distinctive vocals that add to its unique quirkiness. It's an absolutely rocking tune, and I love it so much that I edited it last year for my contribution to the annual Hot Digits compilation.

Have a top Easter and see you in a couple of weeks 🐇
